The SEAMAN DBF-4000 is a black-box fishfinder for biomass and fish-size estimation, shoal observation and seabed hardness assessment.
Black-box unit and software
The unit connects to a computer and display. It uses an aluminium frame with corrosion-resistant materials and an internal layout designed to reduce interference from internal and external sources.
The software includes a Greek-language menu and tools for commercial fishing. Elmare’s presentation covers the fourth generation of the DBF-4000.
Frequencies and recording
Digital image processing and the synthesised transceiver allow frequency adjustment from 10 kHz to 400 kHz. The suitable transducer and installation compatibility are confirmed for the specific configuration.
The system supports storage of up to 30 days of trip history, including operating and navigation information, on an industrial computer’s drive.
Size estimation and target distribution
The DBF-4000 incorporates Split Beam technology to estimate fish size within a selected screen area or a group of echograms. It can show a size histogram and the estimated quantity in each range.
A circular graph shows the distribution of echoes beneath the transducer and helps observe the shoal’s direction of movement.
Display and image adjustment
Image-enhancement tools, up to seven colour palettes and real-time image adjustments are included.
