Different functions, different choices
The catalogue distinguishes fixed and handheld VHF, AIS systems and other radios. Their operating and installation requirements differ. For AIS, for example, check whether you need reception only or transmission, and which device class suits your application.
Antenna, power supply and operation
A configuration also includes cable routing, the antenna and the control arrangement. A second controller, external speaker or display connection needs checking for the exact model. The JRC guide separates included items from optional package components.

• Number of control stations and cable lengths.
• Required connections to GPS, AIS, displays or other systems.
Preparing a technical enquiry
Describe the vessel's use and type, the equipment you are keeping and the work you need. A catalogue listing does not replace checking the requirements of the specific installation.
